Greetings from South Florida

I am currently in Boca Raton enjoying some R-n-R from everyday life up north. I've gone to the Marlin's opening day game, the beach, the pool and a few runs.
Tues morning 9:00, the morning after I got here, I strapped on my MP3 Run gadget and headed out the door- alone! It felt good to be on the road as I bopped away to my music. Down the street and around the corner right into the sun! I was quickly becoming fatigued with the sun beating down on me. I hit the 1.5 mile mark and I didn't know if I could make it back. I put down my 16 oz Gatorade thinking that the weight was tiring me out, not! I had to do a walk, jog for the rest of the 1.5 mile run back. I got home feeling defeated but determined to get out the next day.
Wed. morning I decided I would go on my run in the evening hoping that after eating and fueling up all day I would have a better run. Wrong! Again, almost the same spot I deflated and had no fuel to keep running. I didn't have to walk as much on this run but it still felt crummy. I skipped Thurs and Fri.
This morning, a little skeptical, I headed out at 9am
O for my "long run". Long meaning running more than 3 miles without walking and dying. I decided to try a different route. The air was crisp and the temp was in the mid 60Fs. I started out very slow, clocking the first mile at 10min 30secs. The second mile felt just as good as the 1st and I was able to quicken the pace slightly. I ended up running 5.1 miles in 51.32. A bit slow but I got in a good run. I felt strong the entire way and I was able to clear my mind and just enjoy the weather and scenery.
The rest of the day was spent by the pool teaching DD how to swim and later getting to catch some rays while she caught some z's.
Only 2 more days in paradise.
