Don't Think, Just Run
So I made a commitment to myself on Sun to get out and make running part of my weekly routine. So enter double ear infection for the darling daughter just to put a little wrench in the running plans. On Wed, the weather was gorgeous-63F at one point. I had the windows open trying to air out the germs!
I decided to IM Dianna and see where she was heading for her run. As luck would have it I caught her just in time and we decided to meet up for a run together, ear infections and all. Tough to find a babysitter when you have a sick kid, so she was coming with us. The fresh air will do he good. Maggie was very happy to see Dianna and wanted to know immediately if they were going to do glue. (Dianna has become known as the craft lady when she babysits my DD) Anyway we were off and running and the pace felt a little fast but I managed to keep up and get out a few words here and there in between heavy breathing. Dianna took over pushing the stroller for about a 1/2 mile to give me a break which was much appreciated. Toward the end of the run Miss Maggie began complaining of a tummy ache so we had to stop and check on her a couple of times in the last .25 mile. Oh well, didn't effect our time too much as we finished just around 32 min for 3.5 miles. I packed up all my "stuff" and wished Dianna luck on the last 1.5 mile of her run. While putting the jog stroller away I lost a nut and spring and rusty washer so I quickly scrambled to get all the pieces off the ground but it looks like the stroller will need some repair. It is now sitting in FIL's machine shop for repairs.
With that said it looked like no running for the rest of the week. Not to get myself down I compromised and used the rickety, squeaky stroller and met up with my girlfriend for a 4 mile power walk along the Quinebaug River. It was another nice day and we enjoyed our walk at a good pace- even broke a sweat. So here I wait to hear the prognosis of the jog stroller.
So far this week:
Sun: 3.1 mile run
Wed: 3.5 mile run pushing stroller
Thurs: 4 mile power walk, 51:40
