Spring is in the Air
This week I have watched Franklin and the Green Knight on Noggin about 15 times. Franklin learns about a Green Knight that goes out in search of spring and Franklin himself sets out to find the cherry blossoms to bring back to Woodland. I too would like to find those cherry blossoms and bring the spring to NE CT.
This in conjunction with the 50F weather yesterday motivated me to get out and running. Maggie was sick so I seized the opportunity to run when she finally surrendered to a nap. I only did a 3.1 mile run but it felt good to be out there breathing in the spring air. It also felt good to only have 1 layer of clothing on- I even wore shorts!!!!
While on my run I started thinking about how many times I've started over in my running career. If I could only make the commitment and run consistently for the next 1 yr I would improve so much instead of the constant 1 step forward 1 min backward dance I have been doing since Maggie was born 3 yrs ago. It doesn't help on the consistency front when you 1. Live in New England in the winter 2. Have a 3 yr old and 3. Have a husband deployed in Iraq for 14 months. I am willing to try a little harder to make my runs a part of our weekly routine. I forget how good it feels to get out there and take the stress of my back and just run. With that said it is time to get my race schedule set for the upcoming race season.
