Turned the Corner

It's official...Do I dare say... I've turned the corner. Yesterday was a beautiful spring day up here in New England and I was rearing to go for a run. I didn't have time to squeeze it in while "little miss" was in school because I had chores to do that I neglected the other mornings this week while I was at the gym. (Still trying to balance out the gym time and getting my other responsibilities done in 3.5 hours that preschool program runs.) But anyway, I decided that a little bargaining never hurt so when I picked up "little miss" I told her I would take her to practice swimming at the community center and after I would take her to get icecream at the dairy bar at the local university, which happens to be a mile or so down the road from the pool/gym. The catch was she had to go in the jog stroller to get the icecream.
AGREED!
We had a great time in the pool as she dazzled and amazed me with her confidence in the water and then we had a lovely run to the dairy bar. It took me 10 min and change to run there including stopping at lights and dodging college kids walking to class listening to their ipod's and not hearing my "EXCUSE ME"s. The big test... I only ordered one icecream!!! That's right, I sat and drank my water and thought about how to extend the route back without the child noticing and watched her enjoy every last melted drop of her chocolate icecream with sprinkles. I didn't even get a lick! After having our picture taken with Jonathan the mascot dog, we ran a bit further up the hill to check out the cows and then headed back. Total time running 28.10. Not bad!
I enjoyed a night out with my friends from the deployment as we were appreciated by the Nat'l Guard for our volunteering efforts with the Family Readiness Group. I didn't feel a bit of guilt when I went for the second cocktail ;).
Got to go I have a date at the gym!

Comments:
Good for you on all counts. A run. Fat avoidance. Two cocktails.

WooHoo, Michelle, I used to love those days when everybody got their needs met! Hope you are doing well, sounds like it!

I missed you at the 'Jog with Judy' 5k. I hope the chicks can get together for a run soon.
